So my life hasn't been as glamourous as it rightfully should be lately--I still don't have my dream job, or any job actually, and obviously haven't posted any marvelous adventures because I haven't had many. HOWEVER, that is about to change! I will very soon be absconding for the UK! For FOUR weeks! With a devilishly handsome man, who yes, happens to be my husband! I know, my life has it's charmed moments.
We will be visiting in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Engalnd, and My Sweet HP has even surprised me with tickets to see Wicked in London. I was, needless to say, delighted.
In the meantime, I have been spending a great deal of time working on my novel. It is taking shape, and seems to be picking up layers I hadn't expected. I did manage to hook up with a writing critique group at the Children's Literature Forum, but I'm not sure how I feel about them. I don't mean to be snooty, but all of the women in the group are grandmothers and fancy writing adventure stories about perfect and well mannered kids who happen to be in the right/wrong place at the right/wrong time to be sucked into a story. Not entirely realistic. Nor are they very in touch with the youth of today. They kept using words in their manuscripts like "grand" and sublime." It came as quite a shock to one rather mad looking would-be writer when I mentioned that very few nine year olds today have grandfathers that fought in WWII. And I think they may be quite scandalized when they find out what the central plot of my novel is (luckily I was prudent enough not to introduce it from the offset). I may need to find a more contemporary group. But, alas, I'll keep attending their meetings until I can find a more suitable one.
Until I return from my travels, I dare say I won't have much news, but I'll venture there with be plenty to write about afterwards.
